Why are my new products not visible on home page?

I would prefer the answer to be displayed here so others may see and be able to fix this issue themselves.
I installed my Magento site using the Ubertheme quickstart package -- things seems to be working fairly well so far. Just a few hiccups.
I have added a number of new products to my website:

  • They are all in the “new arrivals” category
  • They have the “new” label set
  • They are ‘Set As New’ 

None of them show up in the “New Products Arrival” static block on my home page.
The test products (lorem ipsum products) all used to show up, but I deleted them to help organise my inventory.

Please help with this as soon as possible, we’d like to go live soon.

How much is this ‘customize services’ going to cost? why is this not a part of the support I have already paid for? I am confused because I thought that when I bought a theme from ubertheme that you would support it.
