Ub News – Settings

So you are about to grab Magento extension Slideshow for your eCommerce Magento store. Slideshow is a practical Magento extension that allows you to show off your promotional messages and graphics with a smooth and vivid slideshow at ease.

This documentation will guide you step by step to install and configure Slideshow. Let’s get started.

Download Slideshow and then extract the downloaded package. To install, especially if you are new to Magento, kindly follow the Magento extension user guide to install the Magento extension Slideshow.

Kindly note that Slideshow uses jQuery. Thus, you need to update Javascript library script.aculo.us built in default Magento to help the Slideshow works properly. Steps to update:

  • Get the latest version of the script.aculo.us (1.8.2 right now): //script.aculo.us/.
  • Upload the file to [Magento]/js/scriptaculous.

Provided that News extension is installed properly, you can follow these steps to configure this Magento extension for your eCommerce website.

1. General

#1. Log in to your Admin Panel on the stage localhost: //localhost/magento/index.php/admin/.

#2. Navigate to UberTheme >> UB News >> Settings.

#3. Add value for these following parameters as per screenshot:

  • Enable : select to enable/disable the News extension.
  • Default Page Title : title for the News module
  • Seo Url : Route to News – URL path by which News module will be accessible
  • Article URL Suffix : title for the News module
  • Show Breadcrumbs : select Yes for the breadcrumbs to be present on the
    website in the News module, otherwise select No

2. Meta Data

  • Default Meta Title : Meta title of the News Extension
  • Default Meta Keywords : text area for the Keywords of the News Extension. To separate
    words please use coma or space
  • Default Meta Description : Meta description of the News Extension

3. Category

  • Show Image : Show Image of Category News
  • Show Image Type : Show Image of Category News
    • Resize Width Of Thumbnail Image
    • Resize Height Of Thumbnail Image

4.Article

  • Number of Articles per Page : the number of News articles displayed per one page
  • Show Date of Articles : select Yes for the posting date to be present on the
    front end, otherwise select No
  • Show Time of Articles : select Yes for the posting time to be present on the
    front end, otherwise select No
  • Show Category of Articles : select Yes for the category name to be present on
    the front end, otherwise select No
  • Show Category Block on Sidebar : select Yes for the category block to be present on sidebar on
    the front end, otherwise select No
  • Show Articles Mode Block : select Yes for showing mode of article to be present on
    the front end, otherwise select No

Configure Article List

  • Articles Mode : There are three modes of article: “Latest”, “Featured” and “Most Viewed”
  • Qty of Articles : Number of article will be present on the frontend, will show all if field left empty
  • Qty of Articles in Leading Block : This field is for developer only to style layout
  • Show View More : select Yes for displaying the “View More” link on
    the front end, otherwise select No
  • Show Description : select Yes for displaying the description of the category to be present on
    the front end, otherwise select No
  • Show Image :If category has image, it will be shown if field is selected =”Yes”
  • Image Type : Is defined the size of image like “Large”, “Medium” etc..

Configure Article View

  • Show Tags : select Yes for the tags to be present on the Full Description
    page of every News article, otherwise select No. Clicking on the tag will provide a
    listing of the News articles that contain Selected Tag
  • Show Author : select Yes for displaying the author name of the article to be present on
    the front end, otherwise select No
  • Number of Related Articles : Number of Related Article will be shown on the frontend
  • Article Image Width : To configure the size of article image

5. Comments

  • Type Comment : select Yes for the category name to be present on
    the front end, otherwise select No
  • Facebook App Id : select Yes for the category name to be present on
    the front end, otherwise select No

6. Social

  • Allow to share on G+ : select Yes for the Google +1 button to be
    present on every News Article, otherwise select No
  • Allow to share on Twitter : select Yes for the Twitter button to be present
    on every News Article, otherwise select No
  • Allow to share on FaceBook : select Yes for the Facebook button to be
    present on every News Article, otherwise select No
  • Allow to share on LinkedIn : select Yes for the LinkedIn Button to be
    present on every News Article, otherwise select No

7. RSS Feed

  • Enable : elect Yes to enable RSS, otherwise select No
  • Qty of Articles In Rss : number of News Articles to show in the RSS feed
