Critical – Taking time to migrate data

Hello Team,
We have around 1.5 lakhs customers and 2 lakhs orders on our M1 website.
We have done the Initial Migration using Uber Migration Tool and it’s taken so much time to migrate those data.
Now before GO Live, we need to do delta migration for customers and orders and as per your guideline: https://www.ubertheme.com/magento2/how-to-migrate-delta-data/
“However, running the delta migration with the --mode=update means that the migration will process all data to check and update.”
It’ll take more time to complete Delta Migration with --mode=update mode and we can not down our M1 website in this time frame.
— How we can reduce this migration timeline using Ube Migration Tool?
— What’s minimum timeline for 1.5 lakhs customers and 2 lakhs orders with --mode=update mode?
Kindly suggest us for this problem as we need to go live  ASAP
Waiting for your positive response
Regards.

Hi Parimal,
At present, the delta migration with the ‘update’ mode is required if you want to transfer both newly added data and modified data from your Magento 1 to Magento 2 since the first migration.
Regarding the migration performance, it will vary because the process associates with various factors — your server resources, connection between your source vs. destination databases (the performance will be better if both databases are on the same server, instead of proceeding with remote connection), database itself …
PS1. Our team is off during the weekend, so we’re sorry for certain delay if you reach out to us during this timeframe.
PS2. We wonder if you have another profile at Ubertheme, we could not keep track of your purchase. Our technical support requires active subscription though.

=> We have both DB in same sever only still it’s taking so much time to complete, can you please let us know how we can reduce this time?

Hi Parimal,

As explained in our previous reply, the performance associates with different factors, including your database itself.

Anyway, please consider a few points below to enhance the performance:

  • It’s always good to start with a good server. A minimum capacity you can consider: One with SSD hard disk, CPUs from 4 CPU cores @2.7 GHz, 16 GB RAM. The higher the better.
  • Besides, you should enable PHP Memcached as indicated in the userguide of our migration tool.
  • Run the migration using the CLI mode
  • And if possible, when you can enable the Keep Original IDs options, it will help to improve the performance further (Please note, in order to enable Keep Original IDs, it’s mandatory that your M2 must be a fresh instance, as noted in this article).

Hope that helps.
PS. For any additional question, please help to submit a ticket under your paid profile. Our technical support requires active subscription though.
