Hi there,
we added a new category and few subcategories in another old category on our m1 instance and tried to re-run migration from step 4 to 8. It went well on the screen but nothing has been migrated. The new category has been selected but the sub-categories in the old category can’t be selected in the settings.

To migrate the sub categories in migrated parent category, you must reset data migration in step #4 (Migrating Categories) and re-start data migration in this step.

It wasn't as simple as you said I had to reset all migration steps from 8 to 4.
And now I have an error in the admin panel I can't access the catalog-> catergories page
And when I run the frontend main page I get the following error
Exception #0 (Magento\Framework\Exception\NoSuchEntityException): No such entity with id = 3 #0 /var/www/vhosts/dev.swissisgood.ch/httpdocs/vendor/magento/module-catalog/Model/CategoryRepository.php(141): Magento\Framework\Exception\NoSuchEntityException::singleField('id', '3')

Let’s open the ‘store_group’ table as in this screenshots: http://i.prntscr.com/5a35KRX3R26RSspOcCkA_g.png
And then, change the value of the ‘root_category_id’ field to the existing root category in table ‘catalog_category_entity’
(change for front-end Stores only)
I hope you have not deleted the default root category of M2 yet (the root category which has ID = 2)
And then, clean the M2 cache. And the issue will be solve.

Hi Mall,
Thanks again for your advice. You’ve been very helpfull through all the migration process. I did what you said and there was no error but the menu wasn’t showing on the home page. I had to change the id to the one “websitename migrated” and then it worked like a charm.
