I like to use custom.css to create overrides that don’t modify original files.
I am new to Magento and not sure how to do a similar thing or if they use a different file.
So this is how I included custom.css into the head of the homepage.
1st and most important turn off system cache in the backend.
Login to admin > System > Cache Management > Under
