Install Issue with CRAFTs Quickstart

I am not able to install the magento using quickstart , as after providing the database details, this error is coming”
Fatal error: Call to undefined function mysql_connect() in /Workspace/dwp/urban-crafts/app/code/core/Mage/Install/Model/Installer/Sample.php on line 86″

I am stuck here, please advice further.
