Installing Magento Sample Data

Have any of you who have tested out Magento been having issues with installing the sample data (as instructed on the Magento website)? I have YET to get it to work as it should -- always gettign errors when trying to import the sample data MySQL data.

Driving me nuts -- as I really want to have the sample data there to utilize as a guide for modifying/customizing from there.

Any thoughts or solutions ???

I don’t know what you mean, but when you try to add the sample data after the installation of the system, it will not work. The sample data has to be installed before the system installation. This is also what is mentioned in the docs.

You are correct -- as is instructed on the Magento website as well.

I just have never been able to get it to work smoothly without errors.

Okay, I followed a thread that was only discussing this problem and it took like 30 posts until 2 users were getting to a point where they knew, they would need to learn first how to read english correctly, so this would not apply to you, the other problem was they simply had no idea what they really do. They tried to make changes to their servers, called their hosts, have shown the error results in the forum and so on and so on and so on.

While others simply really read the docs and all went out fine, at least no problems with this step of the installation. So, have you run the "Magento Server Check" before you did the install. When so and everything was right and Magento compatible and now you have some MySQL error, have you looked over the Magentocommerce.com Forum, if this error is typical or somehow is only coming up when using any JM product, or the better question, is the demo content of JM not really only the one of Magento in general. I do not know if there is JM demo content, but when not, the answer why this went so wrong that often you might get from Magento, rather than from Joomlart.com.

I have installed Magento several times and have successfully installed the sample data too. You can get well explained step by step instructions on the Magento website itself. But remeber you need to install the sample data before installing Magento onto the server.
