JM Purity – 1st template for the JA Magento Template Club

Hi Everyone,
Attachment 4101

After a longtime of in-depth research into the Magento -- the fastest growing e-commerce platform in the market. We are on the edge of opening the new Magento Themes Club

The very first template will be called JM Purity, as winning template JA Purity the JM Purity will lead as the core template frame work for all up coming JoomlArt Megentos

As you can see on the demo, the JM Purity is simple but very clean & professional template where users can do a lot of color customization with a few simple steps.

I want to have a look?
Yes. You can view live demo of original black version & blue version

How & When I can download?
JM Purity is not available for download now. It will be available to JoomlArt Magento Themes Club members.

When the JoomlArt Magento Club will be opened?
We are schedule to open this Club in Feb 2009

(updated on Jan 23 09)
Will current JA Club members have access to Magento Templates
As wooohanetworks has mentioned, JoomlArt Magento templates are total different from JoomlArt Joomla templates because like Joomla & Magento, we will target different group of users and we will have different price plan. We do consider the benefit for our Developer Member, however, due to the sophisticated features of the current JA subscription management system, we will need to work more on the system before we can come up to the final decision.
However, please be assured that all Developer members will be given the most benefit of the Magento Club when it is opened.

Will JA templates for Joomla & Magento be different?
Yes, it will be. However, if there is any outstanding concept can be designed for both system, we will take the chance to create templates for both Clubs.

Will Developer accounts have access to the Magento themes? As its the most expensive subscription you have it will be a nice extra and might push quite a few users to buy one.

Interesting.

The eCommerce market is a tough one. Magento will be doing very well to even get a small slice of it considering how long some of the big players have been around. I’ll have to try it out over the coming days. Hopefully it is better than the other open-source ecommerce rubbish that is currently available and I include some of the big ones in that.

Good luck with this project JA.

Magento is to be the next best ecommerce solution, right now, sad to say, there are not many modules and such needed extensions as long those will not also be part of the new club, it will take until then that I will use Magento. There is also no ERP Solution out there, that can handle data import and export. I think it is the right decision to go over to Magento, I will also change to it but not right now.

From a pure personal and simple perspective, it is a perfect timing, I was already looking for who will make me templates for my next ecommerce solution, so, what to say, Joomlart.com does it!

BTW, can you make me the Magento Wishlist to a Joomla VM Module, please, with the new store I will open soon, I have to go with VM…as something like, "Join JM and get a VM Wishlist Module for free…"!

Sounds like a good initiative -- an excellent way to target a new proportion of the e-commerce market.

However -- I think Magento would need a bigger introduction as to what it is, what it can do etc for people who do not know what it is to start using it. People might consider changing from VirtueMart to Magento if you do this -- meaning more revenue for JM!

And yes -- developer members having access to this would be a very nice perk as it was quite expensive to join.

One question, is this forum here temporarily available or wtll it be permanently in the JA Forums?

To the Magento Developer issue, those are truly two different systems, Joomla is a CMS, Magento is a sole shop, only from this I may say that there may be no free entry for Developers. It is a totally different market and scene, most of the developer members and also other members only work on sites and not shops, so I do not know to ask if it will be possible as a developer member to gain free access comes in a realistic sense. And especially as most do know nothing about Magento, also a Developer member will not be capable of serving clients immediately, so somehow it makes no sense to allow any Developer Member free access to this club, alone when judging one’s own capabilities or needs when you a developer member. To learn Magento, therefore for free would be always great, but hey, this is business here, I think it will be not for free….and you can learn it also without the new JM Templates/Themes.

Yet, it would be nice for developer members to have ti for free, but do you get a new pair of shoes for free just because you bought some expensive Jacket in the shop before. Maybe an incentive, as a member of JA you get 30% discount or something like that I see as realistic. I can be totally wrong in this case, as I do not make the decisions for this…

Bennitos didn’t ask if it was ‘Free’? He asked would it be included as part of the $500 developer license. BIG DIFFERENCE!

…I do not know…

That was all you needed to say or did you even need to say that?

I’ve read a lot of reviews of Manelto, some good, some not so good. It’s still only had 600,000 downloads after a couple of years in existence. Considering the size of the ecommerce market this is a tiny amount.

Looking through their forum there seems to still be plenty of bugs. This one for example were if a visitors system clock is wrong the add to cart button doesn’t work.

There are simply no really good open-source cart solutions. They all seem to have plenty of bugs and when you fix one, it opens another. OsCommerce is a nightmare, virtuemart isn’t far behind.

I’ll be trying out Magento in the next few days and will let you know how I get on.

In the mean time Hung Dinh… if your looking for a BETA tester for those templates you know where to find me.

Scotty, I would be interested to hear what you think of Magento, as it was recommended to me. While I am not a virtuemart fan, I am getting more used to it the more I do (grudgingly). I just wish they had anywhere near the support on their forum that this one does!!

Speaking of Ecommerce, are there any NON open source ones that are better and might work with Joomla?

Oops, back on track, I think having more ecommerce type themes is great, because it makes it much easier than what I did with this last one, which is restyle all the templates in VM and some of the coding because nobody liked the way it looked. Meanwhile when they ever release a new version, I am hosed.

So it would be infinitely better to have more variety and choices of looks within the shopping cart framework, be it magento or virtuemart… or whichever one you guys think is best.

OK, I may be being a bit thick here but are these templates aimed solely at Magento users or is the plan to release Joomla templates and matching Magento ones, now that JFusion is trying to join the two?
Is the hope that Magento will become the new ‘Virtuemart’ or am I completely way off target and these templates are for sole use of Magento with no Joomla needed/wanted in which case I would of thought a new site like magentoart will be formed eventually.
Please enlighten me, its been a long day…..

Cheers,
Jason.

The blue version looks very well.

I know it’s only a demo but just to make you aware… when you register and enter your address. Regardless of what Country you enter it still is mandatory to select a U.S. State.

Just some update to the ERP solutions, some users will have to accomodate to their wholesalers erps, meaning there is always a problem to use the desired shop system as long the wholesalers are not open to alternative ways of business. In a lot of cases wholesalers require the resellers to follow their systems in other cases one is free to do anything

I have checked some ERPs right now, and same like with VM, some more exist by today than just some month ago. The Magento Train is filling up.

So, I do not know how many users even need this daily data import from their wholesalers to update prices, availability and other information about their products. I know some resellers have to update over 100,000 data-sets daily, I would as always recommend to check back with your wholesaler first to see if your desired shopsystem, herein Magento and the available ERP solutions are in compliance to the ones of your wholesalers.

If you only do simple low quantity products volumes, do not need a reliable ERP and can go with the default Magento, just disregard my note.

Much success with your eCommerce Projects anyway, if big or small!

Wooohanetworks I’m afraid you’re going way beyond the topic than necessary.

I am afraid you can’t understand. Any shop owner does not want to spent money into a new template membership and later the wholesaler comes up with that they do not support Magento or the ERPs and their own specific data format (even if the CSV is formatted differently) and the money was wasted. And this happens anyday, people love the new stuff, go to get it but than it appears they did not check all the related issues. So, check back with business partners before spending any money you later have wasted.

I have the understanding that Joomlart.com is always looking to provide quality and more than just the template, but also tips and hints from their members that advise each other and so can prosper from each their experience. Magento is a shop system and I wonder what purpose your post has as I know Joomlart.com is not about those customers that make mistakes for payment but are truly satisfied with the products delivered and support provided..

Thanks!

When I purchased my membership it was solely for the e-commerce templates. I have not really been impressed with the development of further e-com related templates from Jart since that time. I was definitely not impressed at all with the latest Zeolite design.

The designs for the e-com templates don’t even come close to the new styles that Jart is coming out with for "normal" templates and obviously don’t have the same amount of development time put into them. To me Zeolite looked like it was just thrown together just for the sake of having a "New" shopping template. Now, I’m sure your Jart customer base uses more standard type templates then e-comm and I can understand that. However, I would think any new e-com template coming out should at least be on the same quality scale your "standard" templates.

That being said if the quality of the Jart e-com designs is not very impressive now with Jart opening a new "club" aimed Magneto e-com CMS what will that mean in regards to the quality of e-com templates for Joomla in the future? Will you be hiring more designers for the Magneto project or will the current designers from Jart be doing them? Will e-com designed templates for Joomla be swept under the table so Jart can focus on Magneto?

Oscommerce have more contribution.

Which are usually not worth the hassle of installing they’re so full of bugs and terrible script. OsCommerce is Crap! With a capital C! Sorry… JMHO. It was a great free way to set up an free ecommerce site years ago but it fell behind the rest and there are better alternatives out there now with Virtuemart being one of them.

Nobody offer profesional skin and bridge.

It’s not a very popular forum. Why pay $150 (+$25/month for support) when there are better alternatives for free? Users who were fans of it in the past quickly changed there minds when the dev team who said it would always be free, suddenly announced it would no longer be free.

I doubt Joomlart will ever make templates for IPB. 1000 times more sites use phpBB and in the forum skinning market, that’s where the money is.

I’m not saying I think they will make phpBB skins, I’m just saying IF they were to skin forums, that is likely to be the one they would do.

Is e-com designed templates for Joomla going to be swept under the table and be focused on Magneto?

Maybe the templates could be made in such a way that one can easily be adapted to suit the other. Maybe we will see more VM based Joomla templates being released???

Here’s hoping! I would hate to see an end to VM templates being released in favor of Magento ones.

We really have only few ecommerce templates in the known clubs in general. JA has 4, Shape5 has 2, Yootheme has none, Templateplazza has 3, Gavick has a few. As you can use any template with VirtueMart, the market is not really desiring one stop solutions for shops like VM, as most shop owners always let freelancers customize also the internal codes of VM, they also let those do some layout and design stuff. This is why we see only a few VM included templates as there are not so many users that need a plug and play solution.

Right now, I can only recommend the newest one by TemplatePlazza.com and Gavick besides Joomlart.com. The new one from TemplatePlazza looks very good and not so typical VM, same with the new one from Gavick.

I spent 3 months trying to use magento. It installed no problems on my first attempt then a week later it stopped working. I searched for suggestions or solutions to what had happened and had to give up in the end because of a complete lack of support for magento. A quick look at their forums and you will see there is an incredible amount of users posting with the same problem and no solution being offered. In the end I changed over to virtuemart. Just offering my experience with magento.

In the VM Forums, you often get no help. There is also no helpdesk like here or support ticket systems. I would say rather try it at Joomla.org also when it is a VM problem, or at your local Joomla forums. There may be more users that know or can help. The VM Developers build on freelancers that can handle such issues for cash for the users but barely keep up own support in the forums etc..

When all that does not work, try a freelancer like from Joomlancers.com. This is from my experience the only way, as soon you need changes to be done or errors to be fixed that are not click and solve or errors that come from doing something wrong but tweaks and workarounds are not provided by the Developers at least. Often the tweaks by users also do not work out, are still only for VM 1.0 and not working in 1.1.x.

You could consider to give joomlart members the template only without the ecommerce + extra options. Just a downloadable template with the css for module postions.

Would be nice.

They got some huge competition from TemplateMonster.com. They must keep track with those ones, fine ones:

We installed this template and are testin git, two things:

1. It does not look as good as the demo at first sight
2. The images on top from the demo, point here and are thus broken:

Whereas the installed went here:

.. and then, when i try to edit e.g. the header.phtml, I see this in the source:
<h1 id="logo"><a href="<?php echo $this->getUrl(”) ?>">JM 1ST APPROACH</a></h1>

The above might explain why our custom logo etc. do not appear when selected the jm_purity skin as default in mag admin.

Did we download a draft instead of a final version, or should we just try to solve these things and be silent;-)?
