modify the titles in featured products

Sorry, I am new to Magento. What does "configure the default settings as Back-end Settings mean"

When I go to System >> Configuration >> JM Products Slider I cannot see the text "CLOTHING, TOYS AND GAMES, SHOES, BOOKS AND ATLASES"

Any help would be appreciated

It means review the (click link —>) Back-end Settings (<— click link) and configure your own settings accordingly.

The back end settings don’t have the tabs with titles CLOTHING, TOYS AND GAMES, SHOES, BOOKS AND ATLASES

Can you please give an example on how I can modify say "TOYS AND GAMES" to "SCHOOL BOOKS"

Hi You can simply change it via admin area of your site: Admin > CMS > Pages > open your home page > Design (tab) and change the title in Layout Update XML option: http://prntscr.com/4apuk1

Remember to clear magento cache then.
