Not sure if you can help but…

Hi there,

I know this isn’t really a template problem but if anyone could help me I’d be really grateful! I’m used to Joomla but new to Magento and I’ve tried to make my Magento site live and it hasn’t moved over properly and I can’t work out what I’m doing wrong. I thought I’d done everything I needed to (having read a tutorial and it looked pretty much the same as moving a Joomla site). If anyone can see what I’ve done wrong and could help I’d be really grateful. The site is http://www.littlepiratesandprincesses.com (it’s being built on http://www.moonlitfreedom.com/piratesprincesses/ < that’s what it should look like)

Thanks so much in advance!

Emma

Hi there,

How did you install this magento site? The first thing I think you can do is check the permission of files/folders of this site, if you have permission to change the same. If not you can ask your hosting provider to check for you.

Hi Emma,

You can copy this magento-cleanup.php file to your root folder which contains files/folders of your current site like: app, downloader, errors, include, …. Then run with http://www.yoursite/magento-cleanup.php
It will changes permission of files to 644 and folder to 755.

Also check secure and unsecure url in Backend > Configuration > Web http://easycaptures.com/fs/uploaded/620/6785011539.png. If files/folders of your site located in sub root folder, make sure that you also change url in these part to exact one such as: you locate them in sub-folder name ‘magento’, you should change to: http://www.yoursite.com/magento/ for Base URL

Regards.

Thanks for that, but unfortunately I tried it and it didn’t make any difference. I can’t understand it. It’s like the site isn’t reading any of the CSS… the content is sort of there but there’s no style to any of it (but everything is in the folders that should be) and the database has the right username/password etc. I’ve actually put up an index.html so there’s a holding page for now but even that isn’t showing up… just the broken website is showing.

Hi again,

I also cannot loginto the backend of your site, you can go to database of this site, find out table named: core_config_data. Then check these 2 rows:
web/secure/base_url
web/unsecure/base_url
whether their value are correct or not

Sorry, just seen this. Yeah both of those are correct, I changed them like I was supposed to. I really don’t know what to do. Do you know of anywhere I can ask for help with this?

Thanks
