is it possible to add price range checkboxes to the layered navigation filters simmilaar to amazon and ebay, i.e. £10 -- £20 , £20 -- £30

It will need custom tweaks to have the price range feature like Amazon, eBay as you mentioned. In case you can consider our custom service for specific features beyond our core extension, kindly let us know via info (at) ubertheme.com.
Actually, our team will continue improving our UB Instant Layered Navigation with new and enhanced features, yet this will take us time. Further, the need for functionalities varies from site to site, so we can not integrate all features into the core.
