I don´t understand point 1. because it is stated to upload the SKIN and APP folder to the webserver´s document root.
It this case the uploaded SKIN and APP folders would be at the same level as the Magento folder, because the Magento folder is a the docroot, isn´t it?
So I don´t understant how you can overwrite any folder that way.

Also, if you upload the extension SKIN and APP folders to the MAGENTO folder, then yes you will overwrite the original SKIN and APP folders and their content. But I am afraid erasing all those original files will be fatal for the Magento site.

In my site, I have just uploaded the content of SKIN and APP folders to the existing original files.
But nothing appears in the configuration menu.

Am I missing something here?

Thanks

Hi mboudey -- I have the same question. I have installed my JM-Sulfurt basic template. It is working well. Now I would like to install the three modules that came with the template: JM_Product, JM_Spotlight, and JM_Slideshow. I am not comfortable following JoomlArt’s Magento Installation instructions as they are posted here: http://www.joomlart.com/forums/showthread.php?t=29896. Because I am concerned about overwriting key files. Did you find a solution to installing the modules?

Hi beauty,

The instructions above are not precise enough as you have found out.

To properly install the extensions, the only thing I did was opening the extension package and checked the sequence of folders and subfolders in which the files were.
Then I uploaded separately the 2 or 3 folders for each extension.

Some times, for some reason, the uploading would not work well, and no configuration menu would appear. So you need then to erase and reupload.

Hope this helps.

JoomlArt does beautiful work -- the best on the web today. Hands down the best.

But I’ve logged about 8-10 hours so far into trying to install JM Sulfur, still no success. Come on -- that’s crazy!! I did the QuickStart Install according to the main developer’s posts, which failed. (Why was I given incorrect instructions with a new Magento template?) Only then did I read through the forums to learn that QuickStart was not the way to go. So I removed everything and began again. And have read and tried and tested and read some more.

Thank you to Arvind. As he suggested, I submitted a support ticket. But I am not authorized to visit the support forums, so if the tech support is trying to assist me through there I have no access and no means to tell them that I have no access.

If it would help this community I am happy to prepare installation guides in English for future templates, but I cannot do so if I cannot get my own site installed : }

I follow the instruction for installing template and extentions. Template is fine, but modules doesn’t show when I go to configuration>catalog

Any ideas.

I install template first and then the modules, uploading through ftp and replacing, just like instructions said.

Thanks,

Felipe

Hi,
I have had this problem too in the past.
The only solution I got was to reinstall the modules.
I had to do it many times once for a website. That is kinda tricky and I don´t know what I did wrong in the first place.

Hi,
I am having a problem with this JM Morganite template and associated extensions. I installed magento 1.4.01 from scratch and applied the JM Morganite template (copied over app and skin). This worked without any problems. However, when I copied over the extensions I got an "Access Denied" when attempting to to select "System->Configuration".

Also. the checkout pages appear to be formatted incorrectly. Any help would be appreciated. We bought this template because it’s compatibility with magento 1.4.01

Are u sure you did not remove all the folders in app/skin?
To install the tepmlate you have to copy the file in the right path
Be sure not to delete other folders or your template and your store won’t work.

I’ve been having a lot of trouble getting the jmslideshow module installed properly. I still don’t see it in my admin panel. I unzipped the jm_slideshow.zip and here was the output below. Since the default/default folders looked incorrect since I’m using the jm_fabian template, i moved the contents of default/default into jm_fabian directory. Is that correct? What should be the complete path of the files below be to make it work? Please help because this is frustrating.

When I install the JM_Slideshow extension on my Magento 1.4.0.1, I can’t access the configuration in the back office. The JM Slideshow tab brings an errors.
I have the log at your disposal.
Is the extension really developped for 1.4 ? Can you provide a solution ?
Thanks

@meyerula,

I guess you have known that JM Lead are compatible with 1.4.0 already with the particulars

@damiendetoma
Kindly confirm which Magento templates you are using as JM slideshow is customized per Magento themes. It shall work well with 1.4.0 if the whole theme is. Currently, we have upgraded 12 out of 15 Magento themes to 1.4.0 (The upgrade is under progress for 03 remainders: JM Lime, JM Sulfur and JM Mesolite)

Acces Denied errors may come when you try to list the configuration options of JM extensions.

After install, the roles don’t get actualized, so you have to set it in Role options.
I did that, cache refresh may solve it too.

OK, I have purchased and downloaded the deco template and extensions. I have uploaded the template and selected it. Now I want to upload and install the extensions. But the instructions are clearly wrong as the extensions would overwrite the template itself as the folders are of the same name. Am I missing something? I think the answer is probably simple but the language of the instructions is unusable. Can someone who can write English please give step by step instructions on how to install the extensions that came with my template?

Oh, and how do i set the colour to red and remove the ability to change colours?

Finally, I bought the developer version but the joomlart stuff is still in the footer — how do i remove that?
m
UPDATE:
If I place the archives for the three extensions in my base directory and extract them and I flush the magento cache, I can go into configurations and in the left column there is a new section called Joomlart. Under this heading there are tabs for the three extensions. Unfortunately clicking on any of the three tabs returns a 404 error. When I first clicked on the first tab, JMSlideshow, it did display a config page but since that first time it too has been 404 thereafter. Any ideas?

Dear Mfrost!

Thanks for purchasing and downloading our products.

The problems you have encountered are common and i have answers for your questions :

-- How to install Joomlart’s Magento Extensions:

+ Download extension and unzip it (You should have "app", "skin" folders and Readme.txt file)

+ Upload all folders and file you have above to the root directory of your site.

+ Go to admin -> System -> permissions -> roles then edit adminsitrators. In the "Role resources" tab, please set "Resource Access" to "all" and then save. This will help you to avoid the bugs 404 error when click to tabs in configuration as you mention.

+ if you want to custom the extension in multi templates site, please copy "joomlart" directory from "app\design\frontend\default\defaulttemplate" to "app\design\frontend\default\your_themetempla te".

-- Oh, and how do i set the colour to red and remove the ability to change colours?
>> Please follow this: http://www.joomlart.com/forums/showt…ento-templates

-- Finally, I bought the developer version but the joomlart stuff is still in the footer — how do i remove that?

>> Please log into sign up page via http://www.joomlart.com/member/signup.php >> go to Your payment history group at the bottom >> Focus on PDF Copyright Removal column and get the instructions on this.

If you have any problems, please feel free to contact us.

I am trying to install the JM Mega Menu Module but these instructions do not work. Is there anyone at JoomlArt able to provide some support on how to install JM Extensions in Magento 1.7? It would be really nice if we could get some accurate and reliable support on your products.

Thank you.

Hey I have spent ages and ages and AGES trying to get my theme to work, or even get the extension elements to SHOW UP! So here’s what you do. Install the APP and SKIN folders from the template as everyone here seems to have done. Just app and skin into your root folder. Bingo you have the skin. Extensions? Go into each seperate unzipped folder for the extension, say JM Megamenu, and unzip it. Then add all the folders to the root of your site just like you did with the theme files. You think it might overwrite something but it just adds the required stuff for each extension to work. The instructions on here are crazy, maybe they should employ a guy to write then in readable english!….Anyway, good luck everyone, Magento is a pain in the ass!

The english used is just very hard to decipher

This support reply I receved is vague and does not help me, as well as being hard to understand

Please check your site again, I tried to access with this link but it seems to be an incorrect one

I check your folder structure via ftp and the default folder of magento is lost. Therefore, your site doesn’t function properly
PHP Code:
\app
\code
\design
\etc
\locale
You can compare with folder structure of default magento installation and see the differences.

I think you need install new site magento and install template exactly including extensions into associated folder of magento.

when you increased the Number Element displaythere in a fixed width area please also make sure that you reduced the Width of Item (both are in the jmproducslider’s back-end) that would help
