on my website the front page slider is not scaling proportionally, up to a certain size it scales but then it goes beyond a certain size and it only scales it horizontally, please advise.

yes it has the same problem there as well, it doesn’t scale once its dragged around 1800 or something.

I checked the demo of http://magento-themes.joomlart.com/jm_sporty/ in tablet/mobile devices and I saw the slideshow display well on those so I think that’s not a problem, you can check it yourself also 
no on higher resolutions such as 1800, tablets have a much lower res, try on a 27inch widescreen monitor.

you can go to back-end of Jm slideshow there you try to increase the Main Item width width value, I hope that would help !
