Left columun slider “Special Books” not displayed

Hi.
Ive installed the theme on our magento site. The documents that came with the theme (from themeforest) said to add the name “jm_bookshop” to the themes field in the Design admin page. But theme did not work. I added “jm_book” instead, and it worked.
However, the only part of the theme that is not displaying is the “Special Books” slider in the left column.

How do I get this to display? Please help.
Thanks.

Hi Ziven.
I just noticed something wrong. My installation from Themeforest.net when I unzipped it, had a folder called “Extensions”. In that folder, I have the estension for the JM Product Slider unzipped.

..\Extensions\JmProductSlider.v2.1.8\JmProductSlider\app\
..\Extensions\JmProductSlider.v2.1.8\JmProductSlider\skin\

However, it does not have any folder for ..\js\ in the “JmProductSlider” folder.
However, the “Quickstart” folder has these under ..\js\

..\Quickstart\js\joomlart\jmproductslider\owl.carousel.js
..\Quickstart\js\joomlart\jmproductslider\owl.carousel.min.js
..\Quickstart\js\joomlart\lib\owl.carousel\*.*

These are missing in the “..\Extensions\JmProductSlider.v2.1.8\JmProductSlider\*.* folder for the Extensions package from Themesforest.net.

So I’m going to copy the missing files across from the “Quickstart” folder across and see if it makes a difference.
Will let you know how it goes.

Well, that made no difference. I copied the “missing” files across. But it did not fix the problem. Slider is still not appearing in the left column.

So I am stuck.

Can you please see what is happening here.

Thanks.

Paul

Thanks.

Hi Paul,
Please go to the file: app\design\frontend\default\jm_book\layout\catalog.xml at line 57 to change the title you want to. Also please remember clear the cache when changed done.
Best Regards,
Ziven.

Hi Ziven.
OK, I can change the Title in the catalog.xml file.
But how do I change what displays here?
For example, how can I set the content of the slider to display items using a category ID (catsid)?
Regards,
Paul

Hi Ziven.

Well, we now have a new issue. The “Special Books” slider is showing the same set of books as the content under each of the “JM Tabs”.

The tabs all display the same set of books. I had this set to show books by category using a different “catsid” for the content of each block (4, 5, and 6).

This was my original settings:

position-4: Hot Books
<div class=“home-slider”>{{block type=”joomlart_jmproductsslider/list” name=”home.jmproductsslider” title=”Hot Books” catsid=”63″}}</div>

position-5: Best sellers
<div class=“home-slider”>{{block type=”joomlart_jmproductsslider/list” name=”home.jmproductsslider” title=”Best sellers” castsid=64}}</div>

position-6: Staff Picks
{{block type=“joomlart_jmproductsslider/list” name=“home.jmproductsslider” title=“Staff Picks” catsid=”62″}}

But now these have been changed (I assume by you when you updated the JM Product Slider and config).

Can you please fix this.

Thanks
Kind regards
Paul.

Hi Ziven.
The “Special Books” product slider is not sliding in a vertical carousel motion, like on your demo site. It is behaving as a horizontal slider, but even then, it does not slide in a carousel motion. It displays three rows of books in one column, then slides the whole column from left to right, until it gets to the last column, then scrolls rapidly from right to left to the first three items in the list, and starts again sliding each column from left to right instead of vertically in a carousel motion.
Can you please check this in order to see why it is not sliding as a vertical carousel?
Thanks
Kind regards,
Paul

Hi Paul,
Like I said Because the older version have many issues and we did not upgrade it we build new Extension it names V2 and more powerful. That why the vertical slider like this now. About the demo, we still did not re-build but in the demo still older version. We will tell my partner and install the new demo.
Please let me know more details.
Best Regards,
Ziven.

H Ziven.

I understand. No worries.

One more question. Can you tell me where do I change the settings for this slider? I want to display a particular category.

Is there a specific file I can edit? Or what?

Thanks
Paul

Hi Ziven.

Don’t worry about the last question, I’ve found a way of doing this using the default JM Product Slider config panel in admin.

All is good.

Thank you again for all your help.

Kind regards,
Paul.
