On the my VPS there are several other MAGENTO sites running without any problem.
On Magento ADMIN I changed WEB SERVER REWRITES to YES. Since then getting error for home page and admin. On my VPS server MOD_REWRITE is enabled.
.htaccess file has RewriteEngine On. But still error. Hence planning to put it back to NO. But couldn’t get to the admin backend as backend is also giving error. Do you know where on file or database WEB SERVER REWRITES can be switched back to NO.

Hi there,
On my VPS server MOD_REWRITE is enabled.
Are you sure about that?
.htaccess file has RewriteEngine On. But still error.
I don’t know what did you do with this file. But you should switch to use the default .htaccess file of the Magento core default.

The error that I am getting is “Theere has been an error processing your request, Exception printing is disabled by default for security reasons”
I enabled exception printing by renaming the local.xml.sample file in the errors folder to local.xml
What I am getting now is that….
SQLSTATE[HY000] [1045] Access denied for user ‘goldclot_v4user’@’localhost’ (using password: YES)
But I am not using the above user in the local.xml in the app/etc folder. I can’t understand why its showing that user.

That is strange issue. Did you try clean the Magento cache? Do you have use that mysql user (goldclot_v4user) in first time?
Do you share the source code of your site to any developer in first time?

Tried renaming the cache folder. Yes, I used that user long ago. No, I never shared codes with anyone.
Is there any other file where the goldclot_v4user still be? So that I can go in and edit.
Everything happened when I chose to put YES for Use Web Server Rewrites.

Everything happened when I chose to put YES for Use Web Server Rewrites.
That is a strange. The changing of that settings is not related to mysql connection.
