Force List View instead of Grid View

Is it possible to force list view instead of grid view. Maybe this is a magento question but some of the sites I am seeing state it can be done in the template. Thanks!

Hi mate,

in your back-end you navigate to System > Configuration > Catalog > Catalog > Frontend there you select the field of "List Mode" to List (default) / Grid I hope this would help.
