The Trex Theme Homepage Configuration (https://www.ubertheme.com/docs/ub-trex/) requires copying of code into the Layout Update XML field of the Home page.
However, this field is missing, as custom layout updates have been removed from Magento 2.3.4.

I would have considered purchasing the Pro theme, but how should I trust your product and service if already the free theme does not work? If, as you claim, your Pro theme works on 2.3.4, you would have the solution on hand which would make the free theme work on 2.3.4 as well.

The free theme was released long ago. At the time it was released, it was aimed at helping our users to get familiar with Magento 2.
Since we could not keep the theme updated in accordance with Magento 2 releases, there’s a high chance that it causes unexpected issues when you use it with the latest Magento 2.3.4.
Due to our limited resources, we can mainly focus on our premium products at the moment.
