Problem with overwriting old products

Hello, I have a problem with UB Data Migration Pro. I have a store with products and categories. When import is done (with no errors) there is a problem with old products. The images, descriptions and prices from the old products is changing. Descriptions have additional images and the few images from product disappear. The new imported products have other IDs than the old ones. It’s a big, problem, can You help me in this case plese?

Hi there,

there is a problem with old products

Do you mean the products migrated by our migration tool?

The images, descriptions and prices from the old products is changing. Descriptions have additional images and the few images from product disappear.

That is strange, please check the folders/files permission of the migrated media files at ‘pub/media’ again.

The new imported products have other IDs than the old ones. It’s a big, problem,

That was because you haven’t selected the ‘KEEP ORIGINAL IDs’ setting in Step #5 of our migration tool yet. To keep original IDs of products, you must check to this checkbox.
Regards,
Mall.

I have expressed myself badly. The point is that despite the fact that new products have new IDs (this is how it should be), descriptions, prices and photos are overwritten in old products. The problem would be solved by the possibility of importing previously exported products to a csv file, however, when we try to get an error saying about duplicate product URLs.

Do you mean the products migrated by our migration tool?

mentioning old products, I meant products that were already in the base and were not transferred by your tool.
To sum up, how best to approach the issue of import when our store already contains some products that we do not want to change. Is there any chance for that?

Hi there,
We are sorry for not getting the question clearly yet. Please help to clarify further on the following points:

.. descriptions, prices and photos are overwritten in old products.

Please explain in more details what are the old products you mentioned?

the possibility of importing previously exported products to a csv file

Did you mean your M1 had existing products as well as new products imported into your M1 via a csv file before you migrated to Magento 2?

To sum up, how best to approach the issue of import when our store already contains some products that we do not want to change.

Did you mean your M2 had existing products before you start migrating using our migration tool?
Once understanding your circumstance, we will get back to you then.
Regards,
Ubertheme team

Maybe I’ll try to explain again. I have magento 1 store from which I want to migrate data. The second store, on magento 2, has several hundred new products that I want to keep. When I import from M1 to M2, products that are already on M2 are overwritten by products from M1, and we do not want it. The imported products ofcourse have a new ID, which by definition should not overwrite those already present in M2.

Hi there,

When I import from M1 to M2, products that are already on M2 are overwritten by products from M1

That is strange. As you known, the migrated products has new IDs and independent with existing products in M2. Please re-check once more at your end. If the issue you mentioned still persists, let provide me information about your instance:
+ Admin credentials and URL to back-end of your M1 and M2 instances.
+ SSH credentials and path to M2 folder
+ Product’s SKUs which has issue you mentioned
I will help to check further and get back you then.
Regards,
Mall.
