Recent data

hi
We are a developer agency and are interested in your Migration tools
I would like to have the confirmation about the Recent Data migration after we finalize the web site
When we are done we simply have to migrate data with no reset

Do we have to remove any customer, order or product we add in dev site since this migration (for test purpose)

Thanks

Hi there,
Could you explain again about your question?
When using our migration tool, you can select one of the following options:

  • Migrate data into your current Magento 2 instance with existing data. If you select this option, you can not use the Keep Original Ids (To use this setting, your M2 must be a fresh instance). You can learn more about this feature via this post.
  • Migrate data into a fresh Magento 2 instance.

Anyway, it would be best to proceed data migration first and foremost. Once you complete migration process, and verify all migrated data ready for use, then you start with extension and theme integration.
Hope that helps.

Hi
Maybe I did explain wrongly my question so I’ll try to precise
we have a project where customer live site in M1 1.8
We have to start from scratch a M2 2.3 but adding customers, orders and products, named later “data”
We expect tu use your extension and want to do as follow, thanks to confirm if it will be possible
1/ Migrate all data (customers, orders, products, attributes, …) from 1.8 to 2.3 on a fresh 2.3 DB
2/ At this time 1.8 and 2.3 will have same data
3/ When this is done we will work on 2.3 to add some module and change theme etc… this will take a while
4/ When we’ve finished we want to know if
we have to remove all new data in 2.3 (create for dev purpose) and re do a Migration only for recent data
we need to redo Migration from scratch erasing all data first
only continue migration and id will be different

Thanks

Hi there,
We’d like to clarify further below:

1/ Migrate all data (customers, orders, products, attributes, …) from 1.8 to 2.3 on a fresh 2.3 DB
2/ At this time 1.8 and 2.3 will have same data

We wonder if your current Magento 2.3 is a fresh instance without any sample data? We see you mentioned both a fresh 2.3 db in point #1, while Point #2 refers to 2.3 with same data.
Anyway, in both cases, you can still use our migration tool to migrate data from your Magento 1.8 to Magento 2.3.
You can select one of the following options:

  • Migrate data into your current Magento 2 instance with existing data. If you select this option, you can not use the Keep Original Ids (To use this setting, your M2 must be a fresh instance). You can learn more about this feature via this post.
  • Migrate data into a fresh Magento 2 instance (Then you can use the Keep Original IDs as normal)

3/ When this is done we will work on 2.3 to add some module and change theme etc… this will take a while

You should run a full data migration first as mentioned in our previous reply. After you verify such migrated data ready for use, you start with extension and theme integration.

4/ When we’ve finished we want to know if
we have to remove all new data in 2.3 (create for dev purpose) and re do a Migration only for recent data
we need to redo Migration from scratch erasing all data first
only continue migration and id will be different

If you do not use the ‘Keep Original IDs’ mentioned above, you can add testing data during the theme/extension development, then run Delta migration without the need to remove those newly added data.
If you use the ‘Keep Original IDs’, you will need to remove testing sample data before running delta migration (As you know, Keep Orginal IDs setting requires a fresh Magento 2 instance though)
Hope that helps.
PS. Please note our migration tool supports Magento CE only
