I just bought this. Am I going to regret purchase

I just bought this extension, and am told by a developer that the extension is no good as “it migrates a lot of garbage”??? They recommend just using the M2 Data migration Tool. I don’t want to bloat an already large database.

The developers claimed "using it we got some records that later caused problems"..."from our experience it was migrating data in not best way. For our migration projects we used magento data migration".

Hi there,
Thanks for your purchase.
Hundreds of users have completed their data migration successfully so far, so we’re confident that our migration tool works properly.
We don’t take our words for this, you can check out a few completed projects below for further reference:

Actually, some users did use default Magento migration tool and run across complicated issues that they could not resolve. That’s why they turned to our migration tool.

Some of our users had unexpected issues here and there during the migration process, however most of them associated with server-side issues or database issue itself, and we did help them resolve successfully.

So, please move forward with the migration process following our Readme manual that comes packed with your download package. If you have any issue when migrating, please pause the process and get back to us here.

PS. Regarding the statement “it migrates a lot of garbage”, could you ask your developer to provide us more specific issues that he did see?
Sincerely,
Ubertheme team

Well step 5 has stalled importing 85k simple products twice. PHP limits raised and even tried to continue the process via command line. Its hanging again doing the links. Tried contacting you 2x. I’m sure you guys know what you’re doing but it would be nice if you were to share the what ifs with others. Like maybe what happens when the import has stalled. Do we just scrap the entire platform? or do we redo a step? What EXACTLY is Reset, and what does it do? I guess only you guys will have the answer in an upcharge for support, when you get around to answering the questions. You should have a live chat access if you are going to be selling an extension like this

I also noticed that none of the categories or products are showing up in the frontend yet even though caches are cleared It looks like the Uber, rather than dumping the categories in the root Default Category folder, its dumped the categories into a new “Default Category Migrated” folder.?.?.?

Add Root Category
Add Subcategory
Collapse All | Expand All
Default Category (0)
Default Category Migrated (0)
   Crafts (0)
   Trains (0)
   Dollhouse (0)

If I try to move the subcategories now, since nothing is showing, everything will be off during any Delta resync updates.?.?.?

The migration appears to still be running the products migration, but its taking for ever (30 seconds for each 100). Since the second stall, the Migration Log window has stalled as well as the var log file. So we have been running blind as far as referencing status via the the Log window for over 12 hours. But my hosting company is saying, that the step 5 product migration process is still running 24 hours later. The last 12 hours its been migrating product links. So far is into about 6,500,000 lines in the offset field, for it appears to be populating each products related / up-sell / cross sell products links. Though it appears to look good in the backend, nothing is showing on the front end, and we really don’t know if this is even going to work, or that the migration was stable and concise, installing everything where it is supposed to be.
Again, it would be nice to have better written documentation, with updated trouble shooting tips for later Magento versions, and better explanation of definitions and terms, and a basic idea of what to expect time-wise for larger stores, and a better less evasive method of contact, and a better structured help section, and some indication of where you are at on the planet, since week days 9-5 doesn’t say much, if you don’t indicate what part of the planet you are on.
I’ve been building and operating multiple money earning Magento websites and Magento multi-store websites since Magento Beta .9 well over 10 years ago. Your video is what sold me on the extension, its very well done. I thought this extension was pretty slick. But so far the reality has been a frustrating and scary disappointment.

Hi Greywolf,
We’d like to answer your questions below:

none of the categories or products are showing up in the frontend yet

As indicated in our Readme manual that comes packed with your download package, you need to run all migration steps via our GUI dashboard, or CLI mode, then there’re still a few extra steps including reindexing data etc., before you fully have your migrated data ready for use.
Please refer to the section 6. Required Steps to complete migration process in our Readme manual for further information.

Rather than dumping the categories in the root Default Category folder, its dumped the categories into a new “Default Category Migrated” folder.

This is just how our migration tool works. The suffix ‘Migrated’ is aimed at distinguishing the migrated categories vs existing category in your current instance. You simply assign the migrated root category as the root category of the default store of default website in your M2 instance.

Well step 5 has stalled importing 85k simple products twice

The migration performance varies depending many different factors, for isntance the source product database itself; the internet connection during the migration process (Access to HDD if your instance was in local environment or internet connection also affect the migration performance; the actual connection to MySQL at different time might lead to the difference in the the performance result…
In case you see any error notice, we need to take a closer look at follow up with you on case by case basis.

You should have a live chat access

We’re afraid live chat support is not in place, we maintain our technical support via this helpdesk only. Further, we can not provide realtime support as we have a high workload everyday.

But so far the reality has been a frustrating and scary disappointment

The migration process is not a bug-free process. As explained above to you, different issues might occur. From our experiences, almost the issues associate with database itself. We will need to work closely with you to define which is the root cause of each issue, either your database issue or not.
That’s why we curated a common issues during the migration process via our Migration FAQs here:

Hope that helps
Regards,
Ubertheme team
